The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation and UVM Forestry Club/Femmes in Forestry invite you to join a hands-on black ash log pounding workshop!
Learn about how state and local indigenous groups are working to conserve black ash at a free, public workshop at the regional office of the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation at 111 West St., Essex Junction. In addition to learning more about the black ash species, you will get a chance to pound black ash logs and separate the growth rings of the tree into basket-making "splints". No experience or prior knowledge is required, but please make sure to wear comfortable, sturdy clothes as this is an outdoor, hands-on workshop.
This event is hosted by the State of Vermont, and the instructors will be Kerry and Aaron Wood, local Abenaki craftspeople and educators. For more information, contact noah.hoffman@vermont.gov.
