SAP-Ne is looking for sites to support ash stewardship across the Northeast in VT, NY, MA, ME, and the sovereign lands of federally recognized Tribal Nations. Management should aim to sustain future generations of ash trees at demonstration site(s) using practices including:

Insecticide

Silviculture

Biological controls

The collection of seed or other genetic material

Research that helps sustain ash ex situ

Application details:

Minimum site requirements

  • Must be located in the following Northeastern regions: New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, and lands of federally recognized Tribal Nations

  • Offer easy public access and accessibility

  • Site stewardship goals must promote practices that aim to secure future generations of ash in Northeastern forests

  • All proposed work at site(s) must be completed by August 1st, 2026

Applicable site features

  • Untreated sites that are ideal for treatment; OR

  • Treated sites that are in need of additional treatment or an expansion of treatment; OR

  • Sites that are in need of signage or other infrastructure for improved demonstration

Application process

  • Applicants may submit requests for funding at up to five demonstrations sites

  • Applicants must submit a unique application for each site submission (i.e., please submit a new application form for each proposed site)

  • Applicants must be affiliated with an organization (e.g., non-governmental, governmental, or university)

  • Total awarded funds will vary depending on site needs but will not exceed $10,000 per applicant

Application review

  • Applications will be reviewed by a team of leading subject matter experts

  • Applicants will be contacted via email about their site submission status

  • Site submission(s) will either be accepted, accepted with revisions, or not approved for funding

  • Applications are due by January 16th, 2026
